Then as we drove
Ajit told me his story.
"I too left my country one year ago today," he
said. "I wanted something new, some adventure. I
was teaching science in a high school, and I was
engaged to be married, but it was not right for me.
So I leave, and I come here, and I have crazy year.
I live in 9 different apartment, I get robbed, I
always broke for money. But I also see many
interesting things -- museum, theatre, music -- and
I meet many interesting people such as you."
"But most of all, I miss my family. And my friends.
But I tell myself, I stay in New York one year,
then I go home. Then I can go back home.
Are you going
back now? I asked him..
"Not sure," he said. "I starting to like it
here!"
When we got to Delancey, I payed and Ajit and I
said goodbye to each other.
"Good luck," I said.
"You too," he said.
